Restaurants:

Here's a dining itinerary while on Folly Beach: have breakfast at the Lost Dog (be sure to try the cappuccino chocolate muffins), lunch at Locklear's on the pier, and dinner at Anchor's Line (great local seafood at good prices).  You may also want to try Shacktackular Seafood for casual lunch or dinner or for a fancier dining experience try 11 Center Street Wine & Gourmet (843-588-9898) or Seashell (843-588-9001).  Click to find a complete listing of menus for Folly Beach Restaurants.

Things To Do & See (http://www.follybeach.com):

Our children enjoy crabbing from the on-site community crab dock, kayaking among the tributaries of the marsh, and, of course, shelling and swimming on the miles of white, sandy beaches.

If you cross over the Folly River on foot and head straight through the center of town you will find the fishing pier.  This is one long pier as you can see from the photo, and it is open to the public for fishing.  A bait shop and the Starfish Grille are both located at one end of the pier.

James Island Park, a short drive away, boasts a huge climbing wall, picnic areas, paddle boats, and a fun water park.

Drive down Folly Beach and watch the surfers surfing at what the locals call "the washout."  Be sure to bring your boogie board.

If you travel to the very end of the island you can park your car and head on foot another 1/2 mile and see Morrison Island Light House, which the ocean has been slowly reclaiming.

The beaches are some of the finest you will find on the East Coast; great for picnicking, sunbathing, or building a sand castle with the kids.

Charleston, with all its cultural charms, is easily accessible from Folly. So be sure to take a carriage ride and visit one of the many historic homes or plantations. Charleston is also a great place to shop or go antiquing. High on our kids list is the aquarium and a tour of the naval vessels at Patriots Point (see Charleston Attractions).
